THE EVOLUTION OF THE NAPOLITAINES AT THE WHISKTAKERS

If you know us, you know we love a good Napolitaine - Two shortbreads, a delicious layer of jam and pink icing... Simple, humble, YUM! In fact, Napolitaines were the very first product we ever made when we started The Whisktakers. No fancy website, no shopfront, no equipment - just a tiny kitchen and big hopes.

Heart-shaped beginnings
Our very first Napolitaines were made with so much love that we shaped them into hearts ❤️ We were young, full of romantic ideas... and completely unaware of how fiddly it would be when you have to make hundreds of them at a time... so we moved to the traditional round shape.

A piece of Mauritius delivered
​We knew we were onto something when homesick Mauritians started messaging us things like “OMG, I haven’t had these in 15 years!”. So we did what any Napolitaine fairy would do - we offered delivery. Suddenly, we were meeting so many Mauritians in Melbourne just because we all love to eat Napolitaines.

Before we knew it, Napolitaines at birthday parties and weddings became a thing too. Our little pink wonders started showing up at dessert tables, inside lolly bags or tucked into wedding favours and bonbonnieres. Very soon they were not just pink, as we were getting requests for different colours, different themes, different fondant decorations. 

A sweet innovation
We then had the amazing idea to add edible images onto our Napolitaines, and took it to the next level. Now you can really express yourself using Napolitaines - cute sayings, wedding monograms, little inside jokes, pictures of your dog - suddenly, Napolitaines weren’t just nostalgic - they were personal.

​​Fast forward to today: Napolitaines now have their own throne at our shop in Lynbrook. They are made daily and available daily in shop AND they are flying off the shelves. It turns out, when people don't have to message you to order Napolitaines, they order a lot more Napolitaines 😂 (If you've ever come to our shop on a Saturday and missed out... you know the heartbreak.)

We did it!! If you know anyone asking "why can't I get Napolitaines in Perth / Brisbane / Darwin / [Insert city here]?", well now you can 😉 Thanks to our shiny new pink shipping boxes, our favourite Mauritian treats are travelling across the country, bringing nostalgia and crumbs to every state.

​From our tiny kitchen to kitchens all across Australia, our Napolitaines have been with us every step of the journey. To most Mauritians, they are more than just sweets, they represent our favourite memories back home and to us, they are our unofficial mascot - the product that helped our business grow.
